Taichi and Qigong are extremely popular types of excises in East Asian. It’s comprised of smooth, gentle, small range of movements, along with meditation and breath techniques. In addition to the stretching function, Taichi also helps on physical coordination, physiological metabolism, and mental health.
Dr. Xu worked as an instructor of Taichi at the Wellness Center of South Dakota State University. Her graduate thesis focused on the investigation of stress reduction through mindfulness (meditation and qigong). Significant improvement on stress reduction has been demonstrated in that study.
A number of studies conducted by other research groups have also shown the great benefits of performing Taichi on many disorders. These include: sleep disorder, moodiness, physical energy, clarity & focus, depression, stress and anxiety.
